Unraveling the Genesis Moment: The Creation of Space-Time and the Big Bang

For centuries, human minds have grappled with the concept of when and how the universe began. The idea of a Genesis moment, a point in time where everything came into existence, was first popularized by physicist and priest Georges Lema?tre. Lema?tre's work on the General Theory of Relativity revealed a universe that must be expanding forward in time, leading to the concept that it would contract if time were reversed. This led him to propose a point of origin, variously referred to as a Primeval Atom or a Cosmic Egg.

The Evidence of Cosmic Expansion

Not long after Lema?tre's groundbreaking discoveries, another pivotal moment in cosmology occurred. Edwin Hubble provided strong evidence that the universe was indeed expanding through his observations of the Red Shift, a phenomenon where light from distant galaxies appears elongated. This observation supports the theory that we now call the Big Bang: the origin of the universe, space-time, the laws of physics, energy, matter, and the potential for everything else.

The Singularity and the Big Bang

Further bolstering the theory of the Big Bang, physicist Stephen Hawking delved into the work of Roger Penrose, who demonstrated that if Einstein's General Theory of Relativity holds true, a singularity must exist at the heart of every black hole where space and time break down. Hawking reasoned that if time were to be reversed, the same mathematical principles would apply to the entire universe. His calculations and proof show that the universe began in a singularity.

The Nature of Time and Space

Contrary to the common conception, time as a physical entity is a concept invented by humans to help us navigate our lives. It is a tool to measure the passage of moments and relate events to each other, whether in the past or future. On the other hand, space itself has always existed and has no definitive beginning or end.
