Twins Tricks: The Funniest Pranks Shared from My Childhood
The Funniest Pranks Shared from My Childhood
As identical twins, my twin and I have shared some of the funniest moments growing up. One of the most memorable was during a shopping trip with our mother. At around the age of 5, my twin got lost, and in our frantic search, she saw me down an aisle and ran towards me. Unfortunately, this resulted in a 'collision' with a full-length mirror, and a thump! Let's get a hug for the cushioned wall!
Another classic moment came from our childhood when we had a 'party line' telephone system. Each of us owned an extension phone, and we would be on a call with a boy friend at different times. The split-second timing meant that one person was talking to their pal, and the other was listening in, making for rather awkward situations for our boyfriends!
From 5 to 23: More Twin Mischievousness
Fast forward a few years, and my twin and I were both enrolled in diploma courses. She was studying Hospitality and Tourism, while I was in Mass Communication. A specific incident in my 23-year-old life stands out as one of the most amusing pranks:
Pranking an Advertising Teacher
One afternoon, after finishing class, my twin, Gillian, bumped into me on our way to the second floor for our next lesson. With a mischievous glint in her eye, she exclaimed, “Carol, guess what? Guess what!”
Curious and slightly suspicious, I asked, “What did you do this time?” Gillian broke into a fit of giggles, revealing that she had just played a prank on one of my advertising teachers, Mr. Sivam.
Mr. Sivam was going to teach me a module on advertisements. When he saw Gillian, he mistook her for me, greeted her, and inquired whether it was the start of class. However, Gillian, acting as a prankster, confirmed that class had already ended and she was heading home.
Misunderstanding the situation, Mr. Sivam double-checked with his class schedule and, surprisingly, found the class listed as still in progress. He showed Gillian his schedule, which indicated class time.
Unwilling to give up, Gillian produced her own schedule, and funny enough, hers too stated that the class had ended. This made the situation even more confusing. Mr. Sivam turned around, ready to leave, only to be corrected by Gillian at the school gates, thus revealing the prank.
I couldn't help but stare at her wryly as she tried to stifle a laugh. While I found the prank hilarious, I did think it a bit cruel, especially since Mr. Sivam was quite shorter, around the same height as me at 149-150 cm. I told her that next time, she should pick on someone her own size, since she was taller than me.
The ensuing laughter and the thought of what might have happened to Mr. Sivam if he had actually gone home instead of teaching class added to the hilarity of the moment.
