The Quest for Consciousness: Understanding Identity and Existence

Why did I gain consciousness in this body? Why at this time, and why not in another place? These are not questions, but statements, reflecting a deeper understanding of our existence. The reality is, we are born with consciousness in this particular body, our present physical incarnation, and not in another.

Consciousness: An Evolving Framework

Consciousness is an evolving concept, one that changes as we grow from infancy to adolescence and beyond. Early childhood consciousness is vastly different from our present state. While early memories may be vague or non-existent, what we consider our present self is a product of our ongoing learning and individual development.

Even our early memories are influenced by the evolving nature of consciousness. Children under the age of five are not truly individuals, but rather, their perceptions are shaped by their social superiors and their environment. As they grow and interact with other children, their world begins to individuate, leading to a distinct sense of self.

Our current state of consciousness is the result of the learning process on the physical platform in which we were born and have developed. It is originally what we in physics would consider an undifferentiated function of the field. Most of us never fully individuate, inventing a character we love and becoming that person through our experiences.

The Randomness of Life

At the Conciousness Factory, it's quitting time, and the staff simply slaps you into the nearest available body. It's a random event, a reminder that our physical bodies and identities are just that—temporary and often random.

Indeed, the question of existence and identity is crucial. The real question to begin with is, 'Who am I?' The body we occupy is an illusion, as is the separate identity we often attribute to ourselves. If you delve deeper, you might realize that underneath all this, is the idea of being one with everything and the annihilation of the separate individual.

The Soul's Illusion

Your brain is the essence of 'you', but the assumption of a separate 'soul' is an ancient Bronze Age idea that persists in various religions. Many believing scientists have searched for the soul, only to come up empty-handed. The 'you' is your brain, in that particular body, and the question of who we are only makes sense if we accept that a separate soul exists and is different from the body. This belief is outdated and unnecessary in the modern scientific understanding.
