Over the years, I have been deeply involved with the Orizon Mathematics Academy (OMA), along with my own sons who have participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Despite my efforts in tackling advanced mathematical problems, success has been limited. Does this mean that a higher IQ is essential for problem-solving? The answer is not as straightforward as one might think.

The Role of Intelligence in Problem Solving

Intelligence is often associated with mathematical aptitude, but I believe that solving complex problems, particularly those posed in competitions like the IMO, involves more than just a high IQ. While a higher IQ undoubtedly aids in processing information and complex calculations, it is the ability to think laterally and make unique associations that can often lead to breakthroughs.

Lateral Thinking and Associations

Mathematical problems, particularly those found in Olympiads, are often designed to challenge the solver's ability to think outside the box. The Power of the Human Brain

Our brains, with their incredible processing power, can tackle almost any problem given enough time and effort. Whether you find satisfaction in solving intricate mathematical questions is a personal choice. However, fixating on your IQ as a key factor in problem-solving is not a wise approach.
